Hello everyone! I'm new to the world of Glock pistols. Never really gave them a serious look. Until I picked up and held a Gen 4 Glock 23. Traded my Springfield XDm for it. Had my Glock guru, the guy that really got me looking into Glocks, install a set of Tru Glo sights, then range time! I'm proud to report my friends, 200 rounds of various ammo types, zero malfunctions. Recoil is snappy, but controlable. Seems to shoot to the left. That Springfield did the same thing. Me maybe? That serrated trigger has got to go! Ouch! Trigger pull is a bit heavy, but it is a Glock after all, and easily fixed. Already polished up all contact points. Seemed to smooth it out some. Anyway, I'm very mechanically inclined. Did my homework on these. Great gun! I'd be happy to help anyone out. Plenty of mods to come. Will definitely report here! One of the best things about a Glock, aftermarket support. Thanks all! :)

May be a dumb question but why is it importaint to remove the trigger housing pin from left to right? At first I would go from either side to remove the pin. I never had any trouble removing the pin from the right side. Just curious.

Had some fun this weekend with a moving target contraption I constructed.

Had some fun this weekend with a moving target contraption I constructed.

I put 2 fence posts (T-posts) on each side, separated by about 18 feet. Running between them was a nylon-covered clothes line wire. I ran the wire through the center of a swimming pool noodle, of all things, lol. I cut a small hole in each side of the noodle and tied 100 foot of thick twine to each side. Then, on each side, the twine was run back to the fence post and run through a gap in the knot of the clothes line wire. Next, the twine was run up-range back behind the shooter.

We attached the target to the noodle with clothespins, as shown. We also attached a few metal bushings to weight it down from the wind. The twine was long enough that we could have done some long range moving target work but I decided to stick with about 15 foot away for my first day. There were 3 of us, and sometimes 2 of us would be operating the 2 lines that move the target, and sometimes only 1 of us would do it, by running back and forth between the lines or trying to hold one in each hand.

I was quite surprised and pleased that my idea worked! The target moved along nicely at whatever speed you wanted by simply pulling the twine. Sometimes we would jerk it back left before it had even gone all the way right in order to surprise the shooter, etc. It was fun. My target looked like this, shooting from 15 or 20 feet and the target moving pretty fast:

Next, we shot a B27 target with the AR for a while. When we got bored of that, we got close range and started blasting it with the shotgun. We also blasted away various cantaloupe, etc. with the shotty.

As a grand finale, I rapidly emptied the shotgun at close range into the B27 that was attached to a pallet. This knocked it over but I quickly pulled my pistol and finished it off with every last round in the mag:

<img src="http://www.glockforum.net/forum/attachments/glock-range-reports/2097d1369079941t-moving-target-contraption-i-constructed-range102.png" border="0" alt="Click image for larger version.
...Then I suddenly realized I had no loaded guns or full mags on my person (naked feeling!) and went back to the truck to arm myself for any zombies that might have been riled up by the gunshots...

Fake City Life

Rather be on a dirt road
Than this city street
Rather be fishin down by
That little creek

Rather be with my friends
Get out of this fake life
In the city

Rather be climbing that hill
In my old jeep
Half buzzed half stoned
My woman beside of me

Rather be with my friends
Get out of this fake life
In the city

Rather make my own wine
Make my own moonshine
Help my daddy tear that engine down
Grow a garden myself
Don’t need nobodies help
Just me myself and I
Rather be with my friends
Escape this fake city life.

Rather be in a tree stand
Than in this office space
Rather be playing with a band
Than see my bosses face

Rather be with my friends
Get out of this fake life
In the city

Rather be sitting on the porch
Than watching TV
Drinking on Cold beer
And sipping Jim Beam

Rather be with my friends
Get out of this fake life
In the city

Good morning all,

This is my first post on any forum... ever... but I figured this is good company and a great place to start. I have a concern with a brand new Gen 4 G30 that I was hoping to get some advice on.

I've only had the opportunity to shoot ~75 rounds (ammunition is hard to find), but already I'm seeing some 'wear' on the barrel that surprises me. There's some fading at the very lip of the barrel between 7-11 O'Clock, and a "flake" of missing finish at 1 O'Clock.

<img src="http://www.glockforum.net/forum/attachments/glock-talk-discussion/2091d1369071205t-new-gen4-g30-barrel-fading-flaking-g30-gen4.png" border="0" alt="Click image for larger version.
I guess I'm used to seeing some bluing fade, but not so soon and the "flake" is new to me. The pictures are hard to take; this is the best one that I could find to describe the situation.

Anyways, I called Glock this morning, and the customer service was great - the phone barely rang before I talked to a real human. They said not to be concerned, but I sure would appreciate a third-party opinion.

If you're still here, thanks for reading. Let me know if the picture attached OK, like I said, I'm all new to this.

I sure appreciate your time and experience.
