Your .45 is NOT a Death Ray

Col. Jeff Cooper was a huge fan of the .45 handgun. He once made the statement that the .45 ACP will instantly stop 19 out of 20 attackers. While I greatly respect Col. Cooper’s contributions to the shooting world, on this topic he was flat wrong.

The .45 ACP is a fine cartridge. I carry one every day on my police duty belt. It just isn’t quite the man stopper that Col. Cooper suggests. I submit the following news article to highlight my position:

Great article. I am comfortable with my 14rds of 45. Need to start doing better training though, i've never thought about integrating a flashlight to proficiency shooting.

Gee, does this mean none of my .45s are going to stop intruders and neer do wells by their sheer awesomeness alone? Without my even having to draw much less pull the trigger? I've been lied to? Col Cooper was wrong? I'm so dismayed. Next I'll learn that Elmer Keith was totally wrong too. I might as well just get a single shot 22 short.

How many times we have heard that racking the slide on a pump shotgun will send bad guys running. Train horns are pretty load but people still get run over by them. Once the pop hits the fan sound is just distortion , like when your ass hole is big enough to hide in.
