Prices can go as high as people are willing to spend. This encourages production and increased supply bring prices down. Either stock up in good times, learn to reload, or pay what the market will bear. All economies work the same way. Control prices and supply dries up and innovation ceases.

I saw $50 for 20 rounds for .44 Rem Mag about four years ago...So what? I wouldn't pay it, so it had no effect on me.
