    Glock 42 Upgrades/Repairs

So I sent my Glock 42 in due to issues I was having with FTE, and FTF. I was having issues mostly with Hornaday Critical Defense. I received a call directly from Glock and was told the following.

The. Glock. 42's are being upgraded . I was told mine would have (2)new upgraded mags, new trigger housing, extractor changed and the barrel feed ramp was re-shaped. I was told they then ran numerous types of ammo through it with no issues.

Sorry if this has been posted already but just wanted to let people know there are changes being made to the 42's

Your report dovetails with what I was told from Glock, prior to returning my 42. Welcome to the forum. Mine has been flawless ever since. Hope your's is too.

Interesting. Wonder how long I should wait until the shelves restock with the new ones. Maybe just buy it anyways and if I run into issues turn it into warranty?

Changes were made back in April/May and there's a few threads with links to a report showing the old vs new parts. I just bought a G42 this past weekend and had them remove the slide so I could inspect the stamping on the slide lock bar to confirm that it was the newer part (meaning it also contained all the other upgraded parts). Both mags also were the new ones based on the report's pics. If I find the link I'll add it.

Surprisingly, even the shop owner wasn't aware of the changes.

ID:	4364 Thanks for posting this discussion. As a new forum member, I checked out the link to see if my newly acquired 42 had the upgrades (bought last month from a dealer). In a couple 100 rds I've had a couple FTE's. While I'm not experienced w/ full take down, I did notice one of my mags looks like the the upgrade version however it looks like one side had been buffed at the top to make it slimmer. Has anyone else experience this w/ this model? Are 2 FTE's out of 100 rds par for most new guns? I own a 17 since 911 and it's great. Appreciate any feedback here.

If you remove the slide, you can see the stamping on the slide lock (I used a magnifier and additional light). The "-1" was visible. As far as my mags, they looked like the newer version. I'm not at home right now and I'm carrying another gun so I can't do an eyes-on at the moment.

I'd be concerned enough about those 2 FTE's to clean/lube again and try different ammo. What were you using? Although I feel that Glock's are more forgiving than other brands to ammo issues, you never know.

June 6th dealer returned weapon to Glock for warranty repair because of failure to feed JHP.
June 19th received repair weapon with two new mags, replaced trigger assembly and some internals. BTW, great turn around time.

    Today shot :
    50 Remington UMC 95 Grain
    14 HPR Hyperclean 90 Grain
    50 Federal Premium Hydra-Shoc 90 grain

All without any problems except for me causing a low left shot group.
Great pistol to shoot and I hope it proves reliable so I can again summer EDC with JHP ammo.

I just got mine back from Glock today.. The gun just feels smoother to me all around.
I cycled (by hand)3 magazines of Hornaday Critical Defense through mine flawlessley. It use to take me sometimes 5 or more tries just to get first round loaded into the chamber so already a huge difference.

Thanks Nuke, yes -1 is on my slide lock. I was shooting a combination of Fiocchi and Magtech 95 gr FMJ and don't remember which it was. I always clean and lube after a session and haven't taken it out since then. If the mags are newer and finding the -1, I'm crossing my fingers that it was the ammo. Looking forward to taking it out this weekend.
