Considering buying a Glock 19... Thoughts?

I'm new to this forum and looking to buy a G19 and thought what better spot to ask then on this forum. Should i spend the extra $50 and get the Gen4 over the Gen3 also?

The g19 is one of the most popular models of the glocks. It's a great pistol that can be used for home defense or as a ccw. As far as going for gen 4 or 3 it's personal preference. I prefer the grip texture of the gen 4 and fir 50.00 more u get an extra mag and adjustable back straps

Yeah it would definitely be a home defense weapon but I would sometimes carry it. I just don't know if it would be too big for ccw. I'm just looking for a gun that would possibly do both but I'm really looking for a good CCW weapon that's reliable, enough stopping power with at least 10+ rounds.

The g26 meets your requirements and if you want more than 10 +1 loaded you can use the g19 15 rd mag with it too

Is the G26 slide width thinner than the G19?

The Gen 4's feel very nice to me. I think the 19 is about perfect for what you want. Great capacity, small enough for CCW, large enough for fun / comfortable shooting and holds over ten rounds.

all glocks are great as is the info given so far. however imo the caliber should be a least a 40 putting you at a g23 or g27.

I have to agree. You might want to look at the G23 gen4, it's the same size as the G19, and holds 13rds of 40!

    I have a G19 Gen 3, and it's a sweet gun!

When I was looking to buy, I ruled out the Gen 4 because I did NOT like the feel of the grip...immediate negative reaction! And I didn't perceive any difference in grip size (without backstrap).

The Gen 3 G19 feels good and shoots good (now if the shooter can get his act together, we'd have a perfect relationship!)

    As they say: my $0.02...YMMV
