Couple Suing Waldorf-Astoria For Refund After Guest's Gunfire Ruined Wedding

A Waldorf Astoria New York representative says the reception was canceled due to safety concerns. The hotel says it made the decision on the "paramount concerns of the safety and security" of the guests and employees.
I ran the article about the guy that his gun went off and he was arrested
The couple also is considering a lawsuit against Vladimir Gotlibovsky, a guest at their wedding who accidentally fired his gun, grazing a woman in the head.

right!, they are in the right to sue. it wasn't their fault his gun went off and that should be no reason to stop the party. they used it as an excuse to take the money and stop services

they need to sue him also but recovery from him will be penny's

Sorry, no soap. They invited this mope and he's the reason it went pear shaped so they can go settle things up with him. The fact that one of their idiot friends screwed it up is in no way the fault of that hotel.
In a quick search I found this passage (part of a much longer page(s)) that addresses the use of the Hotel Web Site. I would assume that the papers that these folks signed included similar wording for their rental of the physical facility.
" We may prohibit you from participating in or utilizing the Site if in our sole and absolute discretion you show a disregard for this Agreement or act in an unsportsmanlike manner, with the intent to annoy, abuse, threaten, or harass any other person, or in any other disruptive manner. We also reserve the right to refuse service, terminate accounts, remove or edit content or cancel orders in our sole and absolute discretion." I'm thinkin that this would be what they call "any other disruptive manner"......
And since they are one of those "smoke free" hotels they have stuff like this "A non-refundable fee of $250 - $500 will be charged for costs associated with proper deep cleaning of the room" and that's just for you lighting up a stogie.......I'm thinkin that repairing bullet holes in the drapery is gonna result in something similar.

so it happened and it was over with, there is no reason to stop anything. they said its a safety issue but there was no fight, no fire no nothing that says IF the party went on that something else might have happened.... it was an isolated incident and unless there is something in a contract saying they reserve the right to do so they have a responsibility to provide the services paid for

Obviously you missed the part that reads.........."our sole and absolute discretion"..............
I would bet the "aggrieved" parties signature is at or near the bottom of the page that contains that or something very similar.

I would hope that the entire case will be revolving around a sheet of paper that is worded something like this sign......
