(PA) Bloomsburg Fair bans guns... *UPDATED

This annual event is the largest agricultural fair in Pennsylvania, covering 236 acres and one of the Largest on the East Coast.
It's in my home state and I've gone before, but won't be going this year. Probably one of the stupidest things they could do. *They've never had any incidents with guns in previous years.

No Guns Allowed At The Bloomsburg Fair | WNEP.com

    *UPDATE

It appears that they have lifted the ban and will permit licensed concealed carriers after boycott petitions started going around.
Mere days after announcing that all firearms would be banned from the fairgrounds, Bloomsburg Fair officials said today concealed firearms would be permitted for people with “updated, proper permits.”

I believe it's privately owned property.

Oh I'm not saying they can't do it, but people will be staying away because of it.

I'm so glad that they're being taught to find portable meth labs in strollers. Because you know, that's fucking likely. If someone was going to try and sell meth at the fair.... why would they bring their lab haha

The N.C. State Fair (not private but on state-owned land) has never allowed guns and in fact my son had to check his pocket knife at the gate a couple of years back.

I have a question for Kj89 ... if there's never been a gun incident there, why do you feel you have to be armed?

Why do you carry a gun anywhere? I'm not a psychic. "Gun Free Zones" are easy targets for the ill-intended.

    ?

it is after all a precaution; we don't carry a gun because we are expecting trouble but because it might happen. just because there has never been "trouble" doesn't mean there hasn't been... it is just hidden. no big fair like that is trouble free
