Already has A LOT of small business owners here in WNC sweating because of closures in the Great Smoky Mtns. NP. and the Blue Ridge Parkway. The leaf gazers are pretty critical to their survival, not to mention all the tourists who flock to the Cataloochee section of the park to stare at the Elk. Their business spills over more than a hundred miles away in the form of shopping, hotels, gas, dining and other touristy crap. that's okay, at least our fine representatives will be taken care of. Why stop at veterans? EVERY SINGLE AMERICAN has the right to use OUR LANDS and OUR MEMORIALS that we paid for with our tax dollars. If the gov't is shut down there should be no one working the 'entrance gates' at any of the Nat Parks. You should be able to drive right through and enjoy the land. Paying $25 to get in was a joke, too, since our tax dollars fund it. That's called 'double taxation' and is unConstitutional.

Let's remember something for the next election. Only about 35% of the eligible voters in the US vote. Let's get that number up to 100% and we'll get legislators who really represent us.
