I currently own no Glocks, but I intend to get a G 27 soon. I'm uncertain what the differences are in gen 3 & gen 4. Would some of you experts please
enlighten me and offer opinions as to which might be preferrable?

Hello Ken first before you decide on a 27 i would suggest you shoot one. The differance between a gen 3 and gen 4 27 is frame texture,recoil guide rod and different size back straps. Johny

I don't think the recoil parts changed for the baby Glocks - they were already dual spring setups.

Slightly shorter frame with grip adapters & different frame texture. Recoil spring assembly is the same as a Gen 3 G27.

I have five Gen 3 Glocks including a G26. I love them all, but the Gen4 is the way I would go if I were you. The Gen3 fit my hand fine, but I like the smaller grip of the Gen4 when used without the backstraps.

Dual recoil springs have been on the sub-compacts for a while in order to help manage felt recoil. I have a gen 2 and a gen 3 27 and have had good service from both.

I have 27 gen 4. 450 rounds flawless. I say gen 4 all the way.

I have had a few gen 3's and never had a problem with any of them. I just bought a factory rebuilt G-17 gen 4 today. It looks in very good shape. I am hopeing to get out this saturday to try it out. Dave

Hi all....very curious. I am about to buy my first Glock.......So, here's my question. I have shot a Taurus Judge..Bah. Both my wife and I didn't like it. Anyway, I have shot a high point .45. I own a Taurus 709 slim (9mm). What I want to buy is either a .40, or a .45. So, wondering if I should get either a Gen 3 or Gen 4. The reason of either one is cost factor. In Indianapolis IN, they sell a gen 3 23 for about $490.00. Seems like a good price. Then also somewhat closer, a Gen 3 NIB is going for 540.00. ...so, you can see my dilemma. I also have another problem. I am trying to sell some items to raise this amount. I am retired, and am on a fixed income. (sadly). So, any and all, please resond with your opinions. Thanks in advance to all who put their input.

If money is an issue, I'd look for a used Gen3 G23. You should be able to find these for $400-$450 online. One place to check is Armslist.

It depends on what accessories you have your eye on. Currently there are no manufactures making a Guide Rod laser for the Gen4 so if you wanted to use one you should go with the Gen3. If not then since Glock has worked out the spring issues on the Gen4s I would recommend it over the Gen3 27. I bought a Gen4 about 6 month ago to go with my Gen3 23 and love it.
