I recently purchased a NEW Glock 19. I have put 300 Rounds though it. Tonight after getting home from the range I noticed a groove had been worn out of the Followers on both of my magazines. I am curious if anyone else has ever experienced this or heard of this. I have some pictures attached. Thanks for your time guys.

it normal, I don't have any new ones but it is the rotating point of the round as it is pushed into the chamber. It’s in all of mine and I have no probs. You can buy followers and replace them if need be but I have a bunch of round through mine and no probs

Ok i just thought it was odd. My neighbor was with me shooting his 23 and he has no wear whatsoever on his. just thought it was a little dramatic and also odd how much wear its actually showing. theres also a tiny "chip" in the follower above that big "gouge" in the well of the follower. I just figured his would show the same wear. apparently this is happening with SOME of the XD's also. although iam not familiar with their magazines.

I just checked a brand new mag and it is done by the factory and I can only assume it is because of the bullet angle of the last round entering the chamber

I will have to call Glock and ask I guess. I know it obviously has to have something to do with the last round but whatever is causing it doesn't seem to happen to everyone. I don't think it would cause any issues as long as there are no cracks in the polymer. I would just hate to have it fail at the wrong time. Or to have to constantly be replacing followers on my mags every 300 Rounds.

I don't think you have a problem whatsoever. Just looked at all of my 23 (.40) magazines. Look exactly like yours. However my 36 (.45) magazines don't. That has a lot to do with the fact that they are 6 round single stack. I'm thinking you are just fine my friend!

Good to hear. Yea I was just concerned a little. I wonder if once it gets down to the last round. And that little gouge is a little deeper; if that is what is causing some of these issue chambering the last round that some people are having. Because if the "gouge" is deep enough it would cause the round to come up the feeding ramp at a steeper angle wouldn't it? You would think that would be a cause for the issues people are having with the slide not fully moving forward and the issues with loading the last round of a magazine into the chamber. Luckily Ive had no such issues in my brief experience. I Really appreciate the swift responses. Nothing worse than having something wrong with your new firearm and not knowing the cause or effect that it might have on something your depending you life on. Great community and I'm glad I joined up. If anyone has anymore issues it is always good to get multiple opinions. Ill continue checking back on the thread.

I would think if it was an issue with any Glock, we would have definitely heard about it on this Forum. I just think that's the way they are designed and it has no negative effects on the operation of the gun.

There actually is a thread on it already but it was from Sept and the first poster never sent in pics as people were requesting him to so i made my own.


People have also been talking about it occuring with the XD's as well. But i think you are right because some of the feeders you can purchase have pictures of them WITH the indentations already created (of course their nicely done and look intended unlike mine that look like they have been worn into them.) But I believe you are right.

I don't have that wear on any of my .40 cal mags. Maybe this is specific to 9mm.
