I've never fired a Sigma, but I know that they are S&W's "budget-friendly" line of pistols. The only thing I would suggest is to put a few thousand rounds down your's and see how it's hold up.

Their M&P pistols are made to compete with Glocks and that's probably a better comparison. I didn't like the M&P trigger, but did like everything else about it.
What people need to understand is that any gun in the hands of a skilled shooter is a fine weapon. Some may be sleeker, ergonomic, lighter, tighter blah, blah, blah. The true effectiveness in the weapon is in how skilled you are in it's use and the recovery when things go wrong. I hate it when people try to bitch slap someones choices in weapons just because they don't like it. A shooter should buy what they can comfortably afford and then train with until you know it inside and out. Most manufacturers offer a life time warranty so if the weapon does not work like it should, send it back until they get it right.

I own 20+ Semi-Autos from various manufacturers. I train with all of them often. Some have a better feel or a better look than the others but they all send lead and brass down range 100% effectively and I would not trade one of them.

I have shot the Sigma. Other the trigger being much to be desired, it is Stone Axe reliable. What ya get for the price, don't think ya can hardly beat it. If it was me ponying up the $$$$ for another S&W, I would have to put my money down on a M&P or the very least the SD version.
Hello Rugernut i had a sigma and it was a very solid built reliable gun. Trigger was the only draw back on it so i traded it in on a glock. I shoot with my glocks much better than with a sigma. I havent shot the M&P but also heard they fall right in line with Glock. John
I carry a Sigma, G17, Millinium Pro .40, or an LC9 just depending on the day. I like my Sigma as much as any gun I own. It conceals well in an Remora IWB. Very accurate and just plain feels good to wear. It was the first .40 I got and other than ammo costs I love it.
Here is a video on the subject that is worth watching.

I shot one in 9mm briefly at the range once. Like others have said the trigger is on the heavy side compared to a Glock. It shot well though from what I remember.
If you like the Sigma you're gonna love Glock!

^Very true! My first handgun was a Ruger p95. I thought I really loved that gun..... Until I shot my friends Glock 27. The Ruger was out the door within a few days haha

It would have been the other way around for me. The Glock would have never made it into my house.
Sure, they are a great firearm, but they are not for me.

For me it was the trigger. The P95 is just a different set up with the da/sa heavy trigger pull and full size frame. I just really liked that little G27. No doubt I've heard that Rugers are tanks though. If I get a revolver they are the first brand I will look to.
Its just my personal thing but I am not a fan of the s and w autos. They don't feel right and I don't shoot them well. To me comparing a sigma to a glock is like a fusion vs aston martin comparison. Its just prefrence though.

I am not a fan of the Glock, allthough it is a proven firearm. If I want to buy an expensive 2X4 it will be one from Home Depot or Lowes.
