I just heard someone firing off 3 rounds, and they were pretty loud. The reason that I posted is, that’s a first for me, while living in Saint Petersburg.
Oh well, America isn’t what it used to be.

Two residences ago I was having my first New Years Eve at that residence and along with the obligatory 15/17 round pistol magazine dumps, there was a distinct Buuuurrrrrrrrrrrr of a very large caliber automatic long gun.

I lived there 15 years and every year heard it on New Years Eve.

I lived there 15 years and every year heard it on New Years Eve.

I don’t think that I have heard any large caliber automatic weapons fire in the city. But, I may have heard small weapons, on automatic, in some towns.

Must be some sort of concerted ritual activity. On the same night and at the same time, I heard three shots from my apartment in West Kendall (Miami-Dade, unincorporated), with a three minute pause between the first two shots and the third one. A few hours later, Neighbors app users posted that they'd also heard three shots (complete with the same pause), in a neighborhood a mile north of me. They were distinctly gun shots, not firecrackers or such. Weird.

I told an employee what part of the city I lived in and she says "that area's not safe!" I asked her why? She told me her boyfriend had just got out of his apartment lease because, when he worked from home, he could hear gunshots almost every day, during the day!

I said "he does know there's a gun range near there?" She stared at me for a second and said she wasn't going to tell him, it was the reason he decided to move in with her.
