Current carry is a gen4 23. I also own an original 17 I have had since about 1987. Have owned others over the years though. Glocks have always been reliable and tough, for me. I was
worried about getting a gen4 due to early problems with them. But after shooting a gen4 23, I bought one because the 23 has recoil more like a 9mm. Love my 1911s but the Glock is 10 ounces lighter, and carries 14. I consider. 40 and 45s near equals for defense. Good, modern 9mm good enough as well. My 1911 is far more accurrate, but the Glock is accurate enough and easier to carry. Not interested in a who is better war..
they both are good systems. So far, 400 rounds of 180 HSTs, Winchester Talons though my one outing with the 23. ZERO FAILURES. 10yrd standing, aimed shots grouping at 2.5 inches. Only mods were meprolight adjustable night sights. I am really happy with the gen4 23...
