The Republicans were stupid. They appealed to the ultra rich and the ultra conservative people and alienated moderate America. Moderate America went more left than they would have liked because the alternative was really scary to them. If Romney was allowed to pick a more moderate VP candidate and stay true to his moderate views, he would have gotten more moderate America votes and the conservatives would have voted for him anyhow because they're so against Obama. Maybe next time they'll smarten up but I doubt it.

Bill Clinton was a very successful and popular president despite that he couldn't keep his pants zipped. Hillary seemingly has a lot of support right now. She has excellent foreign policy experience as Sec of State and she can stand on her own without Bill. Obama still owes Bill & Hillary a lot. He will bring out the minority vote in droves to support Hillary. All Hillary has to do is stay healthy. The Republicans on the other hand have to start moderating to the center. If a Tea Party candidate gets the Pres or VP nod, the Dems will win big again in the electoral college.
