Hey guys, as I've stated in my welcome post I am fairly new to shooting and want to get into it more. I grew up in rural Iowa where the range I went to was come and go and you don't have to check in or pay any fees to use. Basically you are free to shoot whenever and if no one is there you pretty much have the run of the place. I have never been to a range where you have to pay, wait for other people to shoot etc.
I plan on visiting a range in the near future run by the state DNR and would like to know if you have any advice for a newbie. As far as etiquette goes, and what to expect. I appreciate all the replies in advance.

Besides basic gun safety I would just observe others. It makes a differance as to indoor and outdoor ranges also, where indoor usually the targets are sent out and returned automatically and outdoor you have to wait for the range to be clear to go downrange.
