dumb all the way around. you leave your gun on a counter while you step out? the other employee should have check the status of the gun before he was going to put it away! if in fact any of this is true!
I agree should not have assumed it was unloaded, and checked for certain. I also would say that if this person has been working at the pawn shop for very long I would think he/she has handled many unloaded guns and would notice the difference in weight? The owner I imagine left the gun behind due to it being prohibited where he/she was going, but on the counter. Granted article did not state that I recall if counter accessible to public or on counter behind customer accessible one. At any rate I think they both should seriously consider reviewing the fundamentals. Of course having been shot or shooting someone doesn't teach the lesson I don't think anything will.
