Does anyone have an opinion about them?

and why not? the military has been doing it for over a 100 years. agreed I wouldn't walk around with it on a daily bases but IN a combat situation wither it civilian or military I would think close combat it might be a good weapon for a slash and shoot situation. it would definitely deter someone from grabbing your gun

the idea of a knife on a pistol was a well thought of idea when pistols were single shot but with todays carry methods it might be more harmful then helpful. now if Zimmerman wins his trial there would be a use in the urban combat fighting that will prevail

for 20 bucks I say get one, like every thing it has a time and place

lets look at this for a minute; if someone is that close to you your non gun hand would be fighting them off so how are you going to reload if need be? all I have read and seen NO ONE reloads fighting off someone that close. in the army they fix bayonets any time the enemy is that close

Go ahead and affix your bayonet to your Glock. If you ever use the gun in a defensive situation, the first thing we well see on the news is a closeup picture of your "evil killing weapon". Come on, let's get back to reality here. The media will drag you through the coals like you were a modern day axe murderer. The prosecution will say your were a vicious killer waiting for your first victim. When everything is said and done you will be wishing you could find a hole to climb into and hide the rest of your life. Let's get past the testosterone rush here and use our heads and some common sense.

Should you be able to place a bayonet on your gun? Yes you should be able to. Will you place your bayonet on your gun and use it in defending your life? Sure, if you enjoy the thought of spending the rest of your life miserable and broke from legal fees. So, go ahead, be that super stud! Hey, at least your gun will look real cool!

I'm practical in these matters - agreed. Legal aspect is another thing to consider. I don't shoot to look cool, and neither are my weapon choices. But that's me.

It does sound like a great idea to add a bayonet - but I always consider if this is the appropriate and efficient thing to do. I have too many ticks in the con column, and not really any in the pro column for me.

SO, to resolve this...why not a rail mounted taser?? It would solve the distance issue (and provide the "shooting alternative") but you've then got someone in sights if the taser option doesn't work.

However, the civil liability goes WAY up on this option....I'll pass on this too then.

let's get to reality: a mag with over 10 rounds can and will be seen like that. George z had a kel Tec and his killing machine was all over the news too

Remember, if you have a Taser mounted on a firearm, every encounter with the Taser attached to a firearm will become a deadly force encounter. If you have no intention of initiating deadly force but you have a non-lethal weapon mounted on a lethal weapon, by default, you will be presenting a deadly weapon during the encounter. So if someone is threatening to do no more than punch you and you point a purely defensive Taser at that person mounted on a firearm, you are also pointing a firearm at the person as well. Now you may be facing an aggravated assault with a deadly weapon charge.
