my gen three is not marked so I can assume that not all are. the most obvious signs of the different GEN's is the lowers along with some internal changes.

Welcome buddy! Every gen4 I've seen is marked as so. I have never seen a gen3 marked.

Gen3 frame you can see is much smoother.


This 23c is from June of this year, which is a gen3. As you can see, no label.

 

Thanks for the pictures! I don't have my gun with me at the moment, but I need to check and see how it compares to the pictures you posted. The guide rod hole on my gun tells me that it's a gen 4 and the ability to change the mag button to the left or right side. But, the magazine button itself is small like the gen 3. I'll take a better look at it tonight when I get home and hopefully find out for sure. Thanks again!

According to the pictures you posted of the grips, I have a gen 3. Oh well, I bought it brand new and I've enjoyed it so far!

 

Gen3s aren't an old style/technology, they still make them and aren't going anywhere. I think the big reason for the gen4 is just like another option if grip. Not like it's better or anything, just Glocks way of options.

 

Welcome to Glock forum! Yeah the Gen3 isn't an old model or outdated, just like lineman475 said its Glocks way of offering a different option! I bought 2 new Glocks this year (( G23 & G27)) and both are Gen3 brand new and they both Rock!!!!
